The Shock Absorber is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is essential for reducing vibrations and stabilizing the washer drum during operation, particularly during the spin cycle. It helps to absorb shocks and minimize excessive movement, ensuring the washing machine runs smoothly and quietly.
Note: The unit requires a quantity of 4. Package includes 1 only; order as needed.
Symptoms of a failing Shock Absorber include:
- Excessive shaking or vibrating of the washing machine, especially during the spin cycle
- Loud banging or thumping noises during operation
- The washing machine moving or "walking" across the floor
- Visible damage or wear to the shock absorber
Causes of a bad shock absorber can include wear and tear from regular use, heavy or unbalanced loads that put extra strain on the absorbers, or physical damage from impacts or mishandling.
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Whirpool duet 10 years old drum would make a rocous during spin cycle Jose F. • Pflugerville , TX • December 06, 2014
Ordered the springs and shocks. Noticed that the washer had placement for 4 springs, but the factory only installs 2 (or they forgot to install the other two on my machine).
If you replace the springs, be sure to check for the spring bracket mount. You will also need those.
The washer is running fine. Next I'll work on the dryer.
