Manufacturer Part Number: 00166621

The Detergent Lid is an OEM part for Bosch dishwashers, designed to cover the detergent dispenser compartment. This lid ensures that dishwasher detergent is contained and released at the correct point in the wash cycle, contributing to efficient and effective cleaning.

Causes of a malfunctioning detergent lid can range from physical damage, such as cracks or warping that prevent a proper seal, to mechanical failure in the latch mechanism that prevents it from staying closed during the wash cycle.

Symptoms of a bad Detergent Lid include:

  • Detergent not being dispensed properly during cycles
  • Water leaking from the dispenser area
  • Dishes not being cleaned effectively due to the detergent not releasing at the correct time

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

Answer

Francis, What you don't see in the video is the mechanical latch and switch that activate and unlatch the door to allow the spring to slide the detergent door over and open. The detergent dispenser 00490467 is mounted to the door liner, and the mechanical devices are on the back side and positioned between the inner and outer door liners. When the control calls to dispense the detergent, power is applied to the switch and the switch moves the latch and unlocks the door and it slides open. in the rinse cycle the same switch is activated and it in turns activates the plunger for the rinse agent, and it is dispensed. At the end of the cycle everything resets, when you load in the detergent, and slide the door closed, the latch catches the door and it is set and ready to open when the control gets to the increment to release the detergent.
