John for Model Number WFMC3200UC/01 I had error 04. I took the impeller out of the pump and found plenty of nails & other junk. I put the impeller back in, set the machine to drain and it hummed a little and had a little burning smell. I installed a new "universal" Bosch washer drain pump. I added two gallons of water and the machine drained and spun out the water. When I run a wash cycle, the water keeps being added because the pump keeps draining out the water. Is it possible that I reversed the electrical connections when I plugged it into the back of the pump or is the control unit bad?
Answer Hello John, You will first need to make sure the standpipe is at least the height of the main top of the washer so the water is not simply poured down the drain during the fill. Also, it cannot be sealed since this would cause a siphon situation. If the control smells burned, it will need to be replaced. If there is still something in the pump area that can contact the impeller and prevent it from turning, this will overheat the windings in the pump motor and cause it to hum and create a burning smell. The drain motor is not polarized so the wires cannot be connected to cause the issue. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, March 6, 2018
