By: Bosch
Part Number: OEM17074455
Manufacturer Part Number: 00753257

The Spark Module is an OEM part Bosch ranges and cooktops. This electronic part generates the high-voltage spark needed to reliably ignite the gas burners with the push of a button.

Causes can be issues like component failure over the thousands of ignitions it facilitates. Water ingress could also potentially cause problems.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Unreliable or intermittent burner ignition requiring multiple ignition button presses
  • One or more burners that will not ignite at all
  • Occasionally flashing or error codes relating to ignition issues

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

Steve for Model Number RDDS30VRS

I have a Thermador range model RDDS30VRS. WHen I search for parts on your site for this model, I am prompted to select whether the serial number is above or below 9707. The badge on my range has a serial number of 20040274. I am seriously doubtful that there were more than 20 million of this model made, so do I truncate the 2004 off of the number for the applicability? Anyways, the spark on my range fails intermittently - I can rotate the knobs a little counterclockwise (any of them, including the X-Low burners) to a point where I can hear a relay click, and most of the time, it starts sparking all of the burners, but occasionally, I get no sparks at all, even if I turn the knob past the point where the gas flows. I'm guessing that it's the spark module, since it happens to all of the burners when this problem crops up, and it appears that the spark module is the same for both ranges of serial numbers, correct - 00753257 according to Thermador's site? In the video, it says to connect the burners to ports 1,2,3 and 4, but looking at the pinout of the two units, the pin coming from the simmer controller for burner 1 on the RI 306 is vacant on my old RI 324 spark module, and the rest are stepped over by one, so why wouldn't I connect the burners to the 2,3,4, and 5 output pins on the RI 306?

Answer

Steve, You would want to connect the spark module in the same fashion as what your current one is installed. This may just be for a different model. The spark module would be the most likely cause for this issue.
