Perry for Model Number PCS484GG I have two XLO burners, The rear one works fine. The front one stopped sparking. After a few years of trying, I was finally able to locate a new spark electrode and installed today. Now front XLO burner sparks and lights but shuts off after about 5 seconds with a pop. Sounds like the solenoid is shutting down. I read that its probably the potentiometer. But the original had been discontinued. What potentiometer can I use as a replacement and must it match the one on the rear burner (working)? Do I need to upgrade the simmer control too? Would love to try 00422748 or 00422749 to replace my 189816 but that seems like a bad idea. What are my options?
Answer Perry, this failure can be caused by a failing potentiometer, a failing simmer control, or a failing solenoid. With the gas supply off, the solenoid can be tested for DC voltage to identify if it receives a continuous DC voltage or not. If not, the potentiometer 00189816 would be the most likely cause. Unfortunately, this part has been discontinued and is no longer available. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, August 4, 2020
