Consumer I recently purchased a Frigidaire side by side, model #FFSS2615TE. The first delivery team they sent to set it up said not to use the water filter since we have well water. We noticed one of the doors was damaged at time of delivery, so had to have another door ordered. When the second delivery team came to install the new door, they said we should be using the filter and engaged it. We lost water pressure instantly and ice cubes were much smaller. I called the service number and they told me to order a bypass filter (which I just did). Can you use the frig without a filter? Will the bypass filter be best with our well system and give us back the water pressure we had when we weren't using a filter at all? Is it true we do not have to replace a bypass filter?
Answer Consumer, Yes you can use the refrigerator without a filter and putting the bypass plug in place. Having a filter will depend on what the water pressure is set at on the well and if it is too low it will cause the filter to slow the flow of the water down. The optimal water pressure should be about 60 PSI to the unit so if it is working fine without the filter then just put the bypass in and it will work normal. Read More...
