Hello Anand, the control board does not know you are using a filter bypass, which does not have to be replaced once installed, just reset the filter light as needed.

I recently purchased a Frigidaire side by side, model #FFSS2615TE. The first delivery team they sent to set it up said not to use the water filter since we have well water. We noticed one of the doors was damaged at time of delivery, so had to have another door ordered. When the second delivery team came to install the new door, they said we should be using the filter and engaged it. We lost water pressure instantly and ice cubes were much smaller. I called the service number and they told me to order a bypass filter (which I just did). Can you use the frig without a filter? Will the bypass filter be best with our well system and give us back the water pressure we had when we weren't using a filter at all? Is it true we do not have to replace a bypass filter?

1 Answer

Consumer, Yes you can use the refrigerator without a filter and putting the bypass plug in place. Having a filter will depend on what the water pressure is set at on the well and if it is too low it will cause the filter to slow the flow of the water down. The optimal water pressure should be about 60 PSI to the unit so if it is working fine without the filter then just put the bypass in and it will work normal.

Carole for Model Number Crosley CRSS262QS5

I purchased this refrigerator 6-14-17, had to pay $60 for a bypass filter because I have R/O system in house. On 1-25-18 water leaking from inside fridge and out all over floor. Repair tech pulled out the bypass filter & it had cracked in half. Had to pay $60 for a new bypass filter & install it. On 6-16-18 water leaking again. Tried to pull out bypass filter & only half of it came out. Have called repair tech to come out again. What exactly is the problem? The part, each time, is Electrolux P/N 242294502 BYPASS. On 2-25-18 the repair tech said he had never heard of or seen the bypass filter break like that. Has anyone there ever heard of this problem?

Carole, It is odd that the filter bypass has cracked multiple times and you will want to check to make sure that the refrigerator is not getting too cold causing cracking at where the bypass connects to the filter head.

Abq_Joe for Model Number E23CS78GSS2

I have an Electrolux Refrigerator, model# E23CS78GSS2. The water filter model that's currently installed is a pure advantage NGFC 2000 (replacement cartridge FC100) with part number 218732310B. I was wanting to use my Reverse Osmosis System to to feed the waterline to this refrigerator, which would require me to replace the current water filter in my refrigerator with a water bypass filter. After some research it seems as if there are NO water bypass filters that are compatible with my Electrolux Icon side by side refrigerator. Interestingly though, most web sites that have a compatibility search for this water bypass filter and my fridge model number claim that they are compatible (as this site does) however I also read many people complaining that they AREN'T compatible. Can you confirm whether this is compatible and if not, do you know of a different model of water bypass filter that would work? I greatly appreciate your time and assistance, as well as the great work and service you do! :) All the best, Joe

1 Answer

David, There is no water that would need to go through the filter bypass as it is a blank cartridge.

Bryan, You will want to check to make sure that the switch is good on the dispenser and if it checks ok then the issue will be a faulty water valve.
