Sleekness for Model Number 253.57199600 My Kenmore/Frigidaire side by side is too cold on the frig side and not cold enough on the freezer side. The freezer is at the coldest setting and most items seem frozen except for ice cream stays soft. The fridge side had to be turned down to prevent freezing of the water supply tube. The control box kit was replaced when the unit was new due to similar issues. Is it time for another? Fridge was made in 2006.
Answer Hello Sleekness. Check and make sure the condenser coils are clean and the fan motor is running properly. Also, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the damper 241600902 is bad and will need to be replaced. If there is power coming to the damper motor and it does not open and close, you will need to replace the damper. Turn the unit off and see if the damper closes. If not, you will need to replace the damper. If it does close, you will need to replace the fresh food 241537104 cold control, due to it not reading the correct temperature in the refrigerator.
