Customer Questions and Answers for Oven Broil Element by Frigidaire

By: Frigidaire
Part Number: OEM6379194
Manufacturer Part Number: 316203200

The Broil Element is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire ovens. It is located at the top of the oven cavity and is responsible for providing the high heat required for broiling. This element heats up quickly and evenly to cook food from above, giving it a crisp and browned finish.

Over time, the broil element can degrade due to the high temperatures it operates under, as well as normal wear and tear from repeated use. Electrical surges or physical damage from cleaning or moving oven racks can also cause the element to fail. These factors can lead to the element no longer heating up properly or becoming completely non-functional.

Symptoms of a bad broil element include:

  • The broiler not heating up or heating unevenly
  • Visible signs of damage such as burns, blisters, or breaks in the element
  • Sparking or unusual noises when attempting to use the broiler
  • The oven taking longer to broil food or not achieving the desired browning effect
  • The element not glowing red-hot during operation

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Hello Ralph, You need to verify the 240Vac to the unit if it is electric and verify gas supply if it is gas. If a freestanding unit, checking for the voltage can be done by turning on a surface unit and making sure it turns orange within a minute or so. If it is gas make sure the surface burners will operate normally. If it is a wall oven, you will have to get to the junction box or terminal block to check the voltage. If you were to re-post with the model and serial number from the units' I.D. tag, we would be able to pull the wiring diagram on the unit you are having trouble with and give you an accurate diagnosis and even directions and part numbers. I know this is an additional bother but it is necessary for accuracy. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
