The Heating Element is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. This element is responsible for heating the water during the wash cycle and ensuring the dishes are properly cleaned and sanitized. Additionally, it helps to dry the dishes by heating the air inside the dishwasher during the drying cycle.

Causes of a bad heating element can include regular wear and tear, mineral buildup from hard water, electrical failures, or damage from improper loading of dishes. A faulty heating element can lead to inadequate water temperature and poor drying performance.

Symptoms of a bad heating element include:

  • Dishes not drying properly
  • Water not heating up during the wash cycle
  • The dishwasher not completing cycles
  • Error codes related to heating issues

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Anne for Model Number FDB4315LFC0

On our dishwasher, the heating element is coated with mineral scale. Is it safe to remove the element, put it in a large container, and soak it in a mix of vinegar and dish soap and water, to remove the scale? This is what I use on other items such as faucets and plastic parts that collect the same mineral buildup. Here in central Indiana, we have a lot of calcium and iron in the groundwater, so I suppose this is the kind of material that hardens on parts that contact the tapwater. Thanks.

Answer

Hello Anne! You can try running a load without any dishes in the appliance using the same method. This way, you have a cleaner dishwasher as well. If that does not help, you may try taking the element out and soaking it. Make sure that the terminal ends are not covered in water. Hope this helps!
