This washer switch is both the lid lock and lid switch. New mounting bracket replaces older design. Which means in some applications you may need to drill off old design mounting bracket prior to mounting the new lock. If your replacing the 4 wire switch you will need to tape off light switch leads. The light will no longer be used. Instructions included.

How do you lift up the top to release it to replace lid latch?

Answer

Hello Fred, Remove the two screws in the bottom of the front panel and let the panel slide down toward the floor and it will pull off. This will allow access to the screws that retain the main top, one on each side of the unit.
