Jimmy for Model Number GLER341AS2 My dyrer is about 8 yrs old and started making a loud humming noise after about 5 minutes of running. We turned it off and let it cool down then restarted it and it sounded fine until about 5 minutes and sound returned. I took it all apart and cleaned 8 yrs of dust and lint out of it hoping it would help. After putting back together, I started it up and after a few minutes the sound returned. Do you think the bearings and/or motor need to be replaced?
Answer Jimmy, Normally when the bearings on a unit go out there will be a squealing type of noise. It is a possibility if it is more of a type of vibration that it could be a bad idler pulley that is causing the noise or it could be the windings of the motor. With having the unit turned off and then once it has a chance to cool down that it could be the motor but you will want to check the pulley and blower wheel. Read More...
