The Motor is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. It is responsible for driving the drum rotation in the dryer, allowing for the tumbling and drying of clothes. It converts electrical energy into mechanical motion, providing the necessary power to spin the drum and circulate air for efficient drying.

Causes of a faulty dryer motor can include wear and tear over time, electrical malfunctions, or physical damage. These factors can result in issues such as the drum not spinning, unusual noises during operation, or the dryer not heating properly.

Symptoms of a bad dryer motor may include:

  • The drum not rotating or spinning
  • Unusual grinding or squealing noises while the dryer is in use
  • Dryer not generating heat or insufficient drying performance

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Motor (Part Number: OEM6321441)

1 Answer

Ralph, thanks for the question. It is best to use OEM parts. With that said, the motor could be the issue, and it's also a good idea to check that all other components are correctly in place.

Claude for Model Number GLER341AS2

I just asked about motor shaft lubricant to prevent the blower wheel from seizing. But if for some reason no lubricant is recommended or it doesn't prevent rust from sealing the blower wheel to the shaft, is there anything to be done to release the wheel? Spray lubricants would not appear to penetrate the inside and I'm afraid to use a propane torch because although the center of the wheel that goes on the motor shaft appears to be metalic, everything around it including the stripped nut is made of plastic and will melt.

1 Answer

Claude, Unfortunately, you may have to break the plastic blower wheel off and use a puller tool or heat to get the metal part of the shaft or replace the motor and the blower wheel.

Is it safe to use automotive anti-seize lubricant on the end of the shaft that the blower wheel screws to? Or is there another lubricant you recommend? Like di-electric grease for spark plugs? Blower wheel turns fine but was fused to the shaft. We tried two people with all their strength holding the shaft and turning against it, putting cloth inside the arc joint pliers, using a breaker bar with the 7/8 socket--all that happens is the plastic nut on the outside of the rounded shaft gets rounded and won't turn or separate from the dead motor. Just ordered new blower wheel assembly for an additional $127. With new belt, foam seal and bearing and square end screw drivers for screws designed to frustrate DIYers, it's getting to be the cost of a new dryer at this point. I don't want to replace a perfectly good part again owing to shoddy manufacturing and planned obsolescence.

Ed. With the blower being clear, the bearing have been replaced, and the idler pulley being good then this will be a faulty motor.

Edward, it would be recommended that the idler pulley 131863007 is inspected for free rotation. If it does not rotate freely, it can stop the motor from being able to rotate the drum properly. The blower wheel would also need to be inspected for any debris that could be creating a stiff rotation of the motor drive shaft.

Annar for Model Number FGQ332ES

I need to order parts for a very old Kenmore Gas Dryer (Model 417.92042101) same as Frigidaire Gallery FGQ332ES0. On your video to replace the motor, you show a WHITE plastic bracket (spacer) that mounts to the top (middle) of the cabinet with one screw. My old one is YELLOW and does not have a flange that fits to support the drum at the rim. I would like to order the WHITE plastic one along with other parts, too. But I cannot find a P/N it. It does not show up on the parts (cabinet) diagram). I am not sure what to call it, but you called it a SPACER. Please can you find the P/N for me and let me know if you have a replacement for it. Thanks, Anna

1 Answer

Anna, The manufacturer never made this white plastic spacer available for sale because it is not a necessary part.

Hello Robert, This could be caused by a bad motor bearing or something in the blower wheel or the blower wheel could be contacting the blower shroud. I would unplug the unit and spin the motor by hand to see if it sounds normal.

Joe, as the manufacturer makes updates to their parts, the part number will change to mirror the revision.

Jim, if the motor switch is closed, you will read 120 volts on the yellow wire at pin M1 at the motor switch. Other than that, you may have a element that is grounded and the coil is touching metal. The motor would need to be replaced if it is sending voltage through without it be turned on and running, 131560100

Ever, You will want to check to make sure that the rear bearings are good and that the bearing slide in the front is not damaged. Also check to make sure that the idler pulley is not seizing up. These would be the most likely causes for the issue that is occurring.
