Glen for Model Number FEZ831AS2 - Stacked Washer/Dryer Frigidaire Hi, The washer was leaking from the tub seal so I replaced with parts I purchased on appliancepartspros.com. It was a difficult process as the stacked washer made removing the inner tub difficult with years of corrosion on the agitator bolts and trunion bolts. I was able to resolve all issues and put the unit back together the way it was. When testing the unit for its first trial(empty), the water filled the tub as it should, and then when it was time for it to start agitating the load I heard and saw nothing happening. After about 20 seconds I saw light smoke and a burnt smell from the motor area as if was trying to run but was obstructed. I immediately shut the unit off. After a few moments I turned the dial to "rinse" the water out of the tub and it kicked into spin/rinse mode. The motor started without hesitation and rinsed the water out and spun. I gave it another shot and ran a complete cycle from soak, agitate, rinse and spin. Everything worked as it should. Did the motor have a "temporary" problem with the smoke and burnt smell or is this a sign of problems to come. Thanks for all your help. Great website
Answer Hello Glen. The unit may have been in a bind. The motor reverses to spin out. This could have released the bind. If the unit is working now, it should be fine. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 27, 2015
