Tim July 08, 2024 for Model Number GTW485ASJ1WS WASHER GETS T0 SPIN MODE AND WON'T SPIN. THE TIMER WILL GO TO THE OFF MODE BUT NO SPIN. HAVE TRIED A NEW LID SWITCH AND TIMER NO LUCK, WHAT ELSE TO TRY.
1 Answer Hello TIM, thank you for contacting APP, No spin could be down to a variety of issues. The first thing I would verify is that the unit will agitate in the cycle, if not there may be an issue with the Motor WH49X25375 or Start Capacitor WH12X27614. If it will agitate during the cycle, try running a Drain & Spin cycle to see if the unit will spin in that cycle. Some units will not spin if one of the valves of the Valve Assembly WH13X26535 has failed, or does not have water supply from the home, and the unit is not satisfied by the fill amount during rinse but will run through the rest of the cycle. There may also be an issue with the Main Control WH22X38441C not allowing the unit to go into Spin. If the SPIN light is flashing when the issue occurs then the unit is seeing an out-of-balance condition for some reason, if the FILL light is flashing then the unit thinks it has not taken in enough water. You may also try running a cleaning cycle to remove any detergent residue that may have built up and is causing suds in the pressure system. To run a cleaning cycle on this unit I would set the unit to Extra Heavy, Hot, Bulky Items or Heavy Duty, Extra Rinse, and Deep Fill with an Affresh W10549845 tab or a couple of cups of white vinegar and allow the unit to run through and see if that resolves the issue. If the unit seems to be activating the Hot and Cold valves properly, and cleaning the unit out does not resolve the issue, I would suspect that there is an issue with the main control. Read More...

Dan December 06, 2020 for Model Number FLGB43RGS3 When the washer goes into spin cycle, it begins to spin like a helicopter.. it is spinning too too fast.. tried it with an empty washer , same thing.. any thoughts.. motor? Or timer? I am leaning towards the motor..
1 Answer Hello Dan, the spin speed may not be the issue, if you are getting an increasingly loud noise as the washer accelerates in the spin cycle likely there is a worn tub/spin bearing or worn tub seal that is causing the noise. Read More...
Max December 18, 2018 for Model Number FEZ831AS1 at the start of agitation cycle there is a squealing noise. No noise for the duration of the rinse and spin cycles. Purchased a belt, but on inspection belt seems fine. There is some black residue on the motor pulley. Could it be a motor bearing gone bad? Now the agitation cycle works, but no spin. Also, a burning rubber smell. The motor is extremely hot to the touch.
1 Answer Max, I would remove the belt and see if the pulleys turn without resistance and run a spin cycle without the belt and see what the motor does. Could be a capacitor issue for the motor. and a tech sheet should be behind the panel between the units. Read More...
J.R. October 02, 2018 for Model Number FGX831CS1 I replaced the dryer belt with one that was 1" too short. When it started up, the drive motor pulley sheared off. Is there a way to just replace the drive motor pulley part on the drive motor or will I need to replace the entire drive motor unit?
1 Answer Hello J.R., I'm sorry but you will have to replace the complete motor assembly 8581341966035. You will also need to replace the belt 137292700 with the one for your unit since a belt that is too short will spin the drum too fast and the clothes will not tumble properly. This will cause the clothes to not dry properly. Read More...
Pete September 13, 2018 for Model Number FEX831FS4 The other day when running a load of towels the washer wouldn't go into spin, likely because the load was too large. Now when running a full load, it's left extremely wet and slightly sudsy. Half loads seem to be fine. I ran a cycle without any load, and it cycles through fill, drain, agitation, and spin as normal. I'm wondering if this more of a motor issue, or a transmission issue?
1 Answer Hello Pete, You should first check the trunnion bolts 137539500 (two of these) and trunnion plate 137107000 since they are common on this model to cause issues when loose. To do this you will need to pull the spin basket out since the trunnion 131545101 is directly under the spin basket. If they are tight, the next suspect will be a weak motor 134156400 winding. The transmission will not be a consideration in this case. Read More...
Dave June 03, 2018 I have a washer dryer space saver stacker and the capacitor actually fell out of its cradle onto the motor and blew the motor. My question is, what actually blew, the starting switch on top which looks black and has the white blue, tan, yellow, and red wires coming out or the thermally protected fuse that looks like it's ziptied into the windings on the motor. I already bought a used motor and it works fine again so I know the issue is in the motor and not the capacitor. I have two of these machines and would love to keep this extra motor as a spare if I can get it working again. Motor part number is 134156400 Thanks so much
1 Answer Dave, It is most likely the switch that is faulty on the motor but unfortunately cannot get the switch as a separate part. Read More...
Gary S. October 23, 2017 for Model Number WSM2700WBWW I have a GE Laundry center. Yesterday, I saw smoke coming room the laundry room. The washer was 75% through the last cycle (spin). The smell is electrical (not a rubber smell). I've inspected the drive belt, it moves okay and so does the other drive pieces (idler pulley, drive pulley, tub). I opened up the front cover of the washer, then re-ran the washer in the spin cycle and saw smoke come out again, and it was coming from inside or below the motor. It's an electrical burning smell. The drive belt is spinning normally and so is the tub. I took out the start capacitor and tested it with a multi-meter on the 200kO range. It checks out fine.
1 Answer Hello Gary, If smoke was coming out of the windings of the motor WH20X10026, it will have to be replaced since this indicates that the windings are shorted back to themselves and is in the process of failing. Read More...
Wes May 22, 2017 for Model Number MEX731CAS1 Hi there, I have a Laundry Center Model - MEX731CAS1, my laundry machine has stopped working :( First I have to indicate that the agitator of the washing machine never worked, only the tub would spin in some cycle. few days ago, the whole machine stopped working. There are few issues, high pitch noise, nothing would spin(even the belt), smokes and smells. I suspect there must be some problem in regards to the transmission or the pulley assembly. I wonder if worn seals would have made a difference. Thanks in advance. Wes
1 Answer Wes, You will want to check the power supply coming to the unit if the entire unit is not working. Also check the terminal block to make sure that the power cord is properly attached and not damaged and make sure that the terminal block is not damaged. Read More...
