Dave C. for Model Number FGEF3035RWA I received a replacement panel. When attempting to unscrew (#2 square tip screwdriver for screws that also accept 1/4" nut) both screws struggled to get loose but then would just spin in their openings and not come out at all. After 5 minutes of unscrewing, I gave up. Does this model have bolts underneath the panel or something? Is it possible to safely cut or drill off the screws and buy replacement screws? Thanks
Answer Hello Dave, I would use a small screwdriver under the screw heads to apply some upward pressure while turning the screws. This is how technicians deal with this type of issue and it works great. When re-installing the screws, if you use a small piece of copper wire with no insulation in the screw opening before inserting the screw, this will normally allow the screw to tighten. Overtightening is not recommended on an appliance that produces heat like an oven and this will not affect performance or operation. Read More...
