Ellie for Model Number FRS3R4EQ2 We bought our home, with the fridge, two years ago. Ice maker has been termperamental, not working longer than it has worked. After several months of NOT working, ice maker suddenly resumed working once after the electrical power had been off for about 24 hrs. due to a storm. It worked, IIRC, for a month or two. There had also been an "extra" filter on the water line (in addition to the filter inside the fridge); we removed the external one and that helped with water flow. We had local appliance service come out, as I was suspecting low water pressure to be the problem, although shop thought unlikely. Repair guy emptied freezer, check the lines in back, then decided it WAS pressure problem; he made a larger hole on main water line, put on a new saddle valve, and VOILA; it worked. For a while. It has not worked for several months so I decided to have another go at it....emptied freezer, let it warm up for a couple of hours. Nothing. Removed filter cartridge from filter in the fridge. Water flow in door is decent. Just wrestled out the ice maker.....it has a little bit of ice in bottom of the rear-most cube molds. Have it thawing out again; on verge of buying new ice maker, but it seems to work when it is in the mood....Help!
Answer Ellie, Recheck and flush the water supply line for a minute or two. Replace the water inlet valve 242252702 and check the ice maker wire harness connection at the back wall of the freezer. Having operated so long on low water pressure, there may be debris in the valve and weak or faulty solenoids, still causing little or no water to the ice maker. Read More...
