By: Frigidaire
Part Number: OEM18109251
Manufacturer Part Number: 808608804

The Spark Module is an OEM part for Frigidaire cooktops and ranges. It is responsible for generating the electrical spark that ignites the gas burners. This module sends a high-voltage signal to the igniters, ensuring the burners light up quickly and reliably when you turn the knobs.

Causes of a bad spark module can include electrical surges, wear and tear from regular use, or exposure to moisture, which can lead to corrosion or short-circuits.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Burners not igniting
  • Weak or intermittent spark
  • Clicking sound without ignition
  • Some burners working while others do not

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Should the Yellow wire(Y-3) on the Frigidaire FGGF3059TFA Range control board.continue to send 120v to the igniter even after igintion in order to keep the oven valve open for the entire baking time? Does all of this also apply to the Blue wire(BL-3) while in Broil mode? Also, is the Range Igniting system separate from the Control board? It seems they share only incoming voltage, 120v on the Black wire,(B-1). Both B-1s have continuous 120v at the control board but I have not checked the Range Harness yet. What might cause both of these systems to fail at the same time? Could a bad control board keep the Range igniters from engaging? Thank you again for all the help, Great site! Bookmarked!

Answer

Tim Kay, The control board controls the oven and the surface system is indeed separate and is controlled by spark switches, igniters and a spark module. When the bake or broil is turned on, you will read 120 volts at the igniter the entire time it is energized. You can check the safety valve whenever the bake or broil igniter is turned on to see if the safety valve is weak or if the igniter is weak. Turn the oven to bake, check for VAC at the yellow to white wire, you should read 3.2-3.6 volts. If the voltage is there and the valve does not open, replace the safety valve, 316031501, if the voltage is not correct, replace the igniter, it is weak.
