Pam for Model Number frt18prhw0 I woke this morning to an electcial smell in my house it was coming from the fridg. Unpluged it for a while the pluged it back ang got a reg glow at the bottom where the motor sits. Can you tell me if its the starter overload the motor was still running and fridg was not cooling.
Answer Hi Pam. Yes, the starter relay part # 5304491944 is the part that needs immediat replacement. Keep in mind that the compressor windings may have been affected as well. Use the volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to see if the compressor windings are ohming out ok. Between the c" and s' there will be approx 6-12 0hms and between c' to r' there will be 4-6 ohms. Make sure each leg to compressor ground has not shorted (o-ohms) to ground. Thank You. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, March 14, 2012
