Brendan for Model Number fde436res1 Here's what happened with my dryer. 1. Coil stayed on even after the dryer was off. Coil burned through and broke into many pieces (turned black). I bought a new coil and installed. 2. Dryer would then not turn on, so I bought a thermal limiter and installed. 3. Dryer turned on, then after five minutes, heard a pop. Second coil burned through, this time almost at the insertion point. So, I am thinking it is the thermostat on the element. The dryer was very very hot after I installed the limiter, it seemed. Obviously hot enough to burn through the coil. Could I have crossed wires? Please advise, as this will be the second coil from your site.
Answer Hello Brendan. It sounds like the cycling thermostat 131298300 is bad. This is the part that turns the heater off and on, based on the temperature of the dryer. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, May 3, 2011
