William for Model Number frt18g6jw6

I've had problems with my fridge. The freezer works perfectly, but the fridge isn't cooling. I found out the heater wasn't working, so it was freezing up the air duct to the fridge. I have since purchased these parts from your company. FRIGIDAIRE Defrost timer (215846604) FRIGIDAIRE Defrost thermostat (5303918202) FRIGIDAIRE Defrost heater (242044020) I have replaced them all, and it will work great for 2 weeks, then I have to open up the freezer and defrost it completely. It seems I'm not getting any power to the heater when the fridge is in defrost mode. I'm at a loss what the problem could be. I would greatly appreciate any insight to what else could be causing this problem. Thank you for your time. William

Answer

William, You will want to take the control housing down in the refrigerator compartment and set the timer to defrost. Test from the light blue wire to the brown wire for 120 vac. If there is voltage then you would want to test at the heater to see if there is 120 vac. If there is power at the defrost timer but not at the heater then test the defrost thermostat for continuity and if there is continuity then this will be faulty wiring.
