Craig for Model Number FGFL87GSA The oven quit working. Neither the oven burner nor the broiler burner will light. The control panel shows them lighting, but they don't. All the top burners work fine. It looks like both broiler and oven burners have only one thing in common that is not common to the stove top burners, shown on the schematics as the 'valve'. Does this makes sense? It is pricey on its own. I have perhaps average handy-man skills; can I replace this part on my own? Adding the price of a service call to the price of the part is about 1/2 the cost of a new stove! It wouldn't have the convection-assist feature, but I never use it anyway.
Answer Hello Craig. The control board 316418708 sends the power to the ignitors. If they are not getting power, then it may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. Thank you. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
