Jennifer for Model Number WBSR3140D5WW

Hello, last month my GE washer stopped agitating...I did some research online and ended up buying a coupler (sp) I put the new one on and I cannot for the Life of me get the agitator to go down as far as it should, the 1st few times it would pop up as it started washing. Finally I got it to where it stopped popping up and I thought all is well that ends well, even though I did not like the extra gap between drum and agitator.....Now a month later the agitator is popping up again and I cannot get it to go down as far as I know it should......I noticed on the agitator itself, the Splines? The grooves that slide down over my new coupler and are suppose to slide down nice... Well the grooves on the agitator are worn.......do you think this could be the problem? They are worn and kind of smooshed.........I am a girl so I do not know the proper words and I have never fixed any type of appliance before, I even was looking for a used washer online , then I decided to google alittle and that is how I fixed it (so I thought) for less then 20 bucks!! So smooshed worn grooves on inside of agitator , suppose to line up and slide down on coupler........Think maybe I need a new agitator? hahha, Maybe I never needed the coupler , maybe it was the agitator all along....Help Please???

Answer
