David for Model Number DCXR453GV1WW Our dryer smelled like a burning belt, so I checked the belt. It measured about 90". Is that enough stretch that it would be the cause of the smell?
Answer Hello David, The belt in a dryer will normally not stretch. If it stretches, it is about to break. There are strings made into the belt to prevent stretching. If the belt is slipping, it is doing so because something inside the unit is opposing the turning of the drum. This will be the idler pulley WE12X83, the glides (WE03X37317 X 2),(WE03X37318 X 2),and front bearing assembly WE3M26, or the rear drum bearing assembly WE25M40. Read More...
