Ryan for Model Number hss25gfta I have a hotpoint side by side and it will not defrost. I have replaced the control board and the defroster and it continues to frost over. It is notw making ice which is was not prior to these items being relplaced but not keeping ice cream frozen. I do not see the defroster heat up. I am going to purchase a thermostat . Is there any other thing that might be causing these issues
Answer Ryan, You will want to test the thermistor that is located on the evaporator coil. This thermistor controls the defrost. The resistance value of the thermistor WR55X10025 should be 42.2k ohms at 0 degrees. With replacing the defrost heater and control board this is the most likely cause. Read More...
