Dino for Model Number ESF25LGRDCC

I'm gonna make this easy for anyone to read. I've spent hours online reading other people's refrigerator problems, and I think a bullet point format is better than long paragraphs. Here are the problems I've identified with my GE side-by-side refrigerator. They span several weeks of observation: 1) Melted ice cubes in freezer bucket 2) Freezer slide-out trays with frozen water that came from the melting ice 3) Top shelf of freezer is above freezing point 4) Food in lower sections of freezer are all frozen 5) Top shelf of refrigerator is over 40 degrees Fahrenheit 6) Bottom drawer of refrigerator is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit and freezes the food Things I've done to diagnose or attempt to fix the issue: 1) Replaced evaporator fan 2) Replaced evaporator thermistor 3) Checked resistance of all 4 thermistors by doing the cup of water and ice test and reading from the disconnected J1 connector -- got 16.3K for each one 4) Inspected damper door and confirmed working 5) No significant amount of frost in coils Current situation: 1) Freezer and refrigerator are both set to 5 2) Ice maker is off to prevent melted ice issue 3) Evaporator fan runs from time to time 4) There is air flow between freezer side and refrigerator side 5) Random checks still show the top section of refrigerator getting too warm and the bottom section getting too cold 6) I stopped checking the freezer temps (my taylor thermometer stopped working). Instead, I let the icemaker make a few ice cubes before turning it off again - I'm guessing they will melt eventually but not sure when At this point I am thinking it is the motherboard, but if it is I want to understand what exactly is happening. Is it due to the board not responding correctly to what the thermistors are registering? What kind of tests can I do on it to make sure it's faulty before ordering a replacement?

Answer

Hello Dino. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the mother board will need to be replaced.
