Bill G for Model Number ZIC360n GE Monogram

Freezer temp fluctuates from about -2 to sometimes as high as 20 depending on how often the doors are opened. If very seldom, the temp in the freezer is more steady maybe ranging from -2 to 6. Fresh food section more steady by can drift from set temp of 37 to 39 or 40. The compressor is running ( and does get very warm to the touch). I have replaced both freezer thermistors. I do hear both condenser and evaporator fan running. I have had resent service to fix a leak in the sealed system (drain pan aux line) and to recharge the unit but believe the temp fluctuation has been happening prior to that. I have also replaced the inverter board and freezer seals. I suspect the main board (WR55x10942) but was looking for confirmation before spending another $150. Any thoughts?

Answer

Bill, A normal operating temp for the freezer would be -5 to +5. With it getting to -2 this would be normal and if the freezer door is being opened regularly then it will cause the temp to fluctuate to a higher temp. If the door of the freezer is constantly being open and standing open then it would not be uncommon for it to get to 20 degrees. With the door not being opened regularly you are getting normal readings and when the door is being opened continuously then it is abnormal in which case would be a normal issue. As long as it is getting back to normal readings then the unit would be operating as expected.
