Dustin C for Model Number GSL25JFXBLB Our freezer stopped defrosting. We replaced the heater and bracket assembly, the defrost thermostat, thermistor and the main board and now it defrosts fine. When the defrost stopped working the ice maker and water dispenser also stopped working. I had assumed that the water lines had frozen and would start working when the defrost was fixed. Indeed, when we repaired and manually defrosted the freezer the water dispenser worked for one day but quit again and the ice maker didn't work after defrost. If you listen near the ice maker you can hear a whirring noise every few seconds. Any ideas on how to track down the problem?
Answer Dustin, With the whirring noise coming from the icemaker but not making ice then it would be a faulty icemaker. If there is ice in the icemaker and the fingers are sitting on top of the ice then this would indicate a heater that has failed on the icemaker. Read More...
