Bruce for Model Number GSL25JFPABS

I bought this side by side fridge from someone on Craigslist (big mistake). The first time I plugged it in, I waited a day both the fridge and freezer barely even got cool. Found out the evaporator fan was dead (removed the fan and applied 12v to it, no movement (I'm an electronics technician by trade). Motor wasn't siezed either, turned freely by hand. I replaced it and both fridge and freezer seemed to be at normal operating temps. I replaced the broken auger in the ice cube tray as well, it was broke when I bought it. I hooked up a water line and everything seemed to be great. Then I noticed the evaporator fan speeding up and slowing down (as if you were plugging it in, then unplugging it once a second). Very odd. And the light in the freezer would go on and off like it wasn't getting a good connection. I replaced the light socket. Then the defrost heater was open (freezer wasn't getting as cold as it used to be, found the evap coils frozen solid! Ohmed out the heater, it was open). I replaced the heater element. Now, when I'm making ice cubes, a few days later, the ice cubes are a solid mass, all clumped together and won't dispence anything cause it's such a big solid mass of ice. The solenoid that controls the crushed/cubed lever on the ice bucket sticks and won't actuate anymore. I replaced the solenoid. I also replaced every thermocouple in the unit, as it had the old rounded style thermocouples. I also replaced the defrost thermostat. If this thing was a horse I'd shoot it. I'm assuming, that there's only one part left to replace.. the main logic board. Would the main board cause all of these problems?!! Thanks.

Answer

Hello Bruce. Yes, it sounds like the main board will need to be replaced on the unit also.
