Paul Hoffman for Model Number gts22khparbb - serial dh302601 The freezer in my fridge frosts up and the drain ices up. I cleaned out the drain line and ran bleach trough it to ensure no mold. I replaced the defrost timer and the freezer fan with no luck. I checked the defrost heater - it appears to be working intermittently. It was hot when I first took off the back freezer cover but was cold after I cleaned the drain tube. Reading the online repair hints it seems the control board might be bad. The problem is I cant find the board. There is no access panel on the back of the fridge as shown on Utube. Does this fridge have a control board? If not, do you have any idea what the problem is?
Answer Paul, This unit does not have a control board on it. With the intermittent issue this would most likely be one of the defrost thermostats that is faulty. This has 2 of them which both are located on the right side of the evaporator and are in series with one another. The part number will be WR50X10025. Read More... Answer Paul, Your top mount refrigerator Does Not have a control board. You have the "basic" controls, defrost timer, heater, thermostat and cold control and compressor. The defrost heater is only energized until the temperature is reached, this usually takes 12 to 15 minutes, the remainder of the defrost cycle time 12-15 minutes is to allow the defrost water to drain and evacuate the freezer compartment. Then the refrigerator has to run a total of 8 hours of compressor run time, before the defrost cycle occurs again. Now that you have the defrost drain system cleared and clean, you may want to give the refrigerator a few days(3 to 5) to operate and see if the frost or ice reappears on the freezer back wall. Make sure both the doors are closing and sealing properly as well. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, August 11, 2017
