Don for Model Number PSS26SGRBSS

Hello. I am helping a friend (i.e., limited access to me, as it's in a rental unit) repair GE refrigerator PSS26SGRBSS. It's said that it simply "stopped working" and so all I know is that it's not cooling. Can you walk me through the steps of diagnosis, please, to begin to troubleshoot this problem, and see if a repair is viable? As I begin to read through, it seems that the trouble may be in the lesser expensive relays or fans, or might be in the more expensive circuit board or compressor. I expect I'll have to go back and forth with you a couple of times on this as I begin to diagnose, but if you can put me on the path to get started, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Answer

Don, the first step would be to identify what is operating and what is not. If the fans are operating, as well as the compressor, the evaporator would need to be inspected to identify if there is a frost pattern. If absolutely nothing is operating, the power supply to the main control would need to be tested for 120VAC to identify if the main control is receiving voltage.
