Hello Ana, An open coil electric surface burner is designed for the pots to sit directly on so heat can transfer for cooking. I would recommend referring to the manufacturers' users' guide for proper use and care. This is the only advice we can give since this is the way the manufacturer designed the unit and no modifications have been provided by the manufacturer concerning the complaint provided.
