Drew for Model Number gldt696tss When I turn my dishwasher on it fills up with water in the bottom then nothing happens. After a few minutes goes buy the water drains and thats it. Should I replace the motor and pump?
Answer Drew, You will want to check your pressure switch for proper operation. On the pressure switch pin 1 (black) to pin 3 (brown) is the normal position and Pin 1 to 2 opens water valve circuit and energizes drain pump. Since the unit fills and just a few minutes later it goes to draining then you want to make sure that the switch is not faulty. Also check to make sure that you are getting 120 vac to the pump motor and if the pump motor is not getting the 120 vac then you need to check wiring from the pump to control. If the pump is getting power but not operating the you will need new motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
