The Complete GE Pump and Motor Assembly is an OEM replacement part for GE dishwashers. This assembly is integral to the dishwasher’s functionality, as it combines both the pump and motor components that work together to circulate water during the wash and rinse cycles. The pump forces water through the spray arms, while the motor drives this process, ensuring thorough cleaning of the dishes.

Over time, the pump and motor assembly can wear out due to constant use and exposure to water and detergents. Additionally, debris or hard water buildup can clog the pump, causing strain on the motor and leading to failures. Electrical issues or damage from power surges can also impair the assembly's performance.

Symptoms of a bad pump and motor assembly include:

  • The dishwasher not cleaning dishes properly
  • Water not circulating or spraying during cycles
  • Unusual noises, such as grinding or humming, coming from the dishwasher
  • Water not draining properly from the tub
  • The dishwasher not starting or completing cycles

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Rick for Model Number 36314582100

Need help figuring out what may be the problem with our older dishwasher. The top rack isn't getting water up to it. I ended up replacing the lower spray arm due to plastic being brittle and thought maybe the arms were clogged. The dishwasher runs through the cycles, fills with water, none reaches the top , soap door opens but doesn't get dispensed out (its a pod) stays in the dispenser and some runs down the door.. I'm thinking maybe the motor/pump although running may not have adequate pressure? suggestions?

Rick, Sounds like you're on the right track, check to be sure water is in the bottom and not draining out prematurely, although if it were a drain valve issue it comes with the motor/pump assembly as well.

Mike, Check to see that you have water pressure to the inlet valve and then thru the valve. Sounds like something is stopped up

I have an old GE portable dishwasher that gets stuck in drain mode. This did not happen until I replaced the pump motor and assembly. I have replaced the piston check valve (WD24X10018) and drain flapper check valve assembly(WD22X10024) and cleaned out the drain hose by removing it and snaking it. The solenoid is not stuck and the timer appears fine. After the solenoid pulls the diverter flap-valve door to the drain position, it appears that water pressure keeps it there even after it has emptied... a little bit of water cycles back through the piston check valve with both the old and new ones (through the center where the piston shaft goes through the rubber cone), but it does manage to drain the tub... I removed the sump basin cover and I can see the water level drop below the pump intake and appear to suck air, but the diverter stays on the drain side. Once it has drained, if I momentarily interrupt the power after it has emptied the water, the diverter returns to the normal position and it stops draining and allows new water to fill the tub. I can also get it to return to normal position after it has finished draining without interrupting power by either manually pressing the piston check valve down , or moving the drain outlet to the floor. I believe both of these actions allow air to get in and let the diverter return to normal. I wonder if the new pump could be generating too much pressure or if its diverter flapper could be sticky. Again, this did not happen until I replaced the pump motor assembly (WD26X10013).

Hello Dan, that would be a problem in the timer (WD21X0777) however it is no longer available.

Arthur, It appears that the capped off port should be for the drain hose and the one that goes to the upper spray arm will be the open one.

Had a no motor start, no drain, and door leak. I assisted motor, it started and drained. Pulled machine, found many areas gunked up, cleaned EVERYTHING. Re assembled, installed. Ran cycle with dishes no soap, all functioned properly no leaks. Same dishes same cycle(pots and pans) added soap, door leaked (at bottom) but machine functioned as it should. Repeated this several times with same results. Purchased 4" gap seal from you, not sure it ever had one, no change in door leak. I have noticed at about midway through wash cycle, the motor seems to slow, the sound of the spray becomes noticeably slower. Is it possible the motor is weak, and because of the slower turning of the spray arms, too much water is hitting the door. All seals cleaned up well and look good, water level looks fine, when using soap, suds do come up higher than water but they settle and water level looks normal. Machine is approx 14 years old, with a lot of use and has worked very well. I am not against throwing some parts at it but this has me stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Rob, you may want to test the windings of the circulation motor WD26X10013 for 10 ohms. If the windings do not read 10 ohms, then the motor is bad. As the motor is slowing down it is possible that it is spraying water onto the door excessively, thereby causing water to leak out of the door.

Washer seems to work ok, no leaks goes through cycles ok. But it started to make short intermittent grinding sounds. It now does it through most of the cycle, even though everything seems to still work ok. and it gets loud. Taking off the panel while running it dose seem to be coming from the motor or pump, hard to tell. You can't get a decent new one for under $500-$600. Think it would be worth a new motor & pump? I wouldn't if the rest was beat up, but it's almost like new. If you think it's worth it whitch kit # would fit in the washer? Thanks Terry.

1 Answer

Terry, For this issue it would be suggested to check the blade for the chopper to make sure that the blade is not damaged. If this checks ok then this issue will be a faulty bearing on the motor.

Leonard, there should be water in the bottom of the sump area, but not standing in the bottom of the tub. If there is water in the tub, you may need to replace the piston and nut assembly, it acts as a check valve when the DW goes into a drain cycle, part number is WD24X10018

Crystal, Make sure the unit will fill and drain. You can do this manually a couple times to clear out any suds. When unit is filled and you confirm water inside close door and listen for motor to hum.If no sound wiggle your timer knob around to see if the contacts are bad.If this helps and motor starts then you will need a timer WD21X10013.If no success check for 120 vac at motor. No volts it needs a timer, voltage present you need a motor WD26X10013
