Kenneth for Model Number CTX18ELSRWH Dear Customer Support, My refrigerator is not getting cold lately. The freezer (22 °F) and the fridge (56 °F). I have replaced the Defrost Timer and that did not solve the problem. Current Diagnostic Summary I have checked the Evaporator Fan and Condenser Fan both are working properly. I have checked the Defrost Heater and it does show continuity and was glowing red but only runs for about 3 minutes then it stops. During the 3 minutes cycle, it did not completely melt all the ice built-up on the coil. However, I am not sure if this is normal or it's suppose to melt all the ice on the coil before the compressor starts again? What is the normal run time for the Defrost Heater? At this point, I am suspecting the Defrost Thermostat is partially failing. I am hesitating to cut the wires to test for continuity because the original wire is very short and it would be difficult to attach the wire back to the thermostat. Based on my description, which component is preventing the refrigerator to get cold? Thank you! Kenneth
Answer Kenneth, Thanks for the question!!! I would go ahead and replace that defrost thermostat. The heater should run for at least 20 minutes. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, August 14, 2021
