Manufacturer Part Number: WB27X10856

The Digitron is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It is an essential component of the microwave's control board, displaying settings, cooking times, and other information on the microwave's digital display.

Over time, the Digitron can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. If the Digitron is malfunctioning, it can affect the readability of the display or the functionality of the control panel.

Symptoms of a bad Digitron include:

  • The display being dim or completely dark
  • Inaccurate or incomplete information shown on the screen
  • Flickering or intermittent display issues
  • Unresponsive control buttons linked to the display

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Michael for Model Number SCB1001KSS01

My 13-year-old GE microwave lost the display. No display at all. I replaced the Digitron (WB27X10856) and now the display flickers madly - all the pixels - but nothing meaningful then goes blank. The microwave previously worked perfectly except the display showed nothing as it was dark. What part should I order from you to correct this malfunction? I want to repair this microwave as it matches the built-in oven. I can read schematics and use a vom to test. Is there a part I should order from you? Please provide a link and thank you very much!!!

Answer

Michael, the transformer WB17X10021 would need to be tested by unplugging the microwave power cord, then disconnecting the transformer harness located at CN1. The wires should measure 23.2O of resistance. Then the wires located at CN7 will need to be tested and should read as follows: yellow to black are 1.5O, black to white are 5.2O, and red to brown are 1.1O. From there, the wires and microwave would be plugged back in, and the CN7 wires would be tested for voltage and should read as follows: yellow to black 13VAC, black to white 20VAC, and red to brown 8VAC. If the voltage tests good, then the power control board WB27X10861 would be the issue. If the voltages fail, then the transformer would need to be replaced.
