Manufacturer Part Number: WB27X10856

The Digitron is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It is an essential component of the microwave's control board, displaying settings, cooking times, and other information on the microwave's digital display.

Over time, the Digitron can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. If the Digitron is malfunctioning, it can affect the readability of the display or the functionality of the control panel.

Symptoms of a bad Digitron include:

  • The display being dim or completely dark
  • Inaccurate or incomplete information shown on the screen
  • Flickering or intermittent display issues
  • Unresponsive control buttons linked to the display

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

John for Model Number SCB1001KSS01

I am having an issue with the display on my Advantium microwave/speedcook oven. It only displays in the top two rows for about a second when a control button is pressed, then goes blank. While the oven is in use, the display flickers. The lower part of the display that shows modes (Oven Demo locked...) operates properly. While the oven is in use, the display flickers. Besides the display issue, the oven operates properly. I have run the resistance and voltage checks for the transformer and they are within spec. How should I proceed?

Answer

John, the low-voltage transformer WB17X10021 (part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available) would need to be tested for resistance after unplugging the power supply cord. The primary winding should measure 23.2 Ohms. Then the secondary windings would be tested from the yellow wire to the black wire for 1.5 Ohms, black wire to white wire for 5.2 Ohms, and red wire to brown wire for 1.1 Ohms. If they test well, the next step would be to verify that all wire connections at the control panel are secured properly. If the wires are secure, then it would most likely be a failure in the display control WB27X10858.
