Butch H for Model Number GSHS5PGXCESS The ice maker is making a loud "banging" noise. It will work fine after removing and then replacing the bucket. Once I try to get crushed ice, the banging starts again. The dry cup has been previously replaced but is now slightly cracked again. Why would activating crushed ice cause this?
Answer Butch, In some cases when this issue occurs it is caused by clumping of the ice, especially under the auger. You will want to check to make sure that there is no ice clumping under the auger, and also if the drive cup is cracked you will want to replace the drive cup. Read More...
