Questions & Answers

For Ge Drive Cup (Part Number: OEM9609753)

1 Answer

Hello Max, no, the auger should not rotate freely, one end uses a drive cup WR17X11459 that indexes with the auger motor drive fork, the other end goes into the cube/crusher assembly. As far as what is the repair that would depend on which end is broken.

Hello Darran, the drive cup WR17X11459 may be worn or flexing under load. If the auger shaft was bent you would see it when manually rotating the drive cup. The auger shaft should not have excess play if pushed forward, check the entire ice bin for cracks that may allow excess movement. Check that the ice maker is not making oversize cubes.

Ramon, There is a "how to" video attached to the part number in the parts diagram/display. Click on the part number inside the brackets WR17X11459, the computer system will automatically display the part order screen and a photo of the part. Below the photo in the center, you will see the words "repair video", click on the white arrow and the video will play, it's a 7 or 8 minute video but will display all the information needed to replace the drive cup on your refrigerator. Thanks,

Hello Ramon, I'm sorry but there is not a video on replacing this part yet. The ice bucket will need to be disassembled to install this part. The best way to do this is by taking a lot of pictures during the disassembly so they can be followed backward during reassembly for proper reassembly. The only other thing that might help is the parts explosion showing the assemblies parts.

Tom, This may not be an issue with the drive cup itself but may be an issue with the auger motor drive coupler or a issue with a loose drive blade on the ice bin.

Harrolyn for Model Number GE Refrigerator GSS25XSRBSS Ice Maker

Continue to replace auger drive cup: (5) times. Replaced last night and by this morning it was cracked. Auger has eaten through back of bucket allowing the auger drive to slip out of inset where it belongs. Has anyone a solution for repairing the bucket so the auger will not penetrate the back wall. I have fought this auger cup replacement for years and aside from buying new refrigerator I dont know what to do. GE products are awful, especially this one.

1 Answer

Harrolyn, This issue should be able to be resolved by checking to see if there are any other parts that may be broken. The first part that would possibly be broken or loose that could cause the auger drive cup to be to far to the rear would be the crusher housing or the crusher cover. Check these for being damaged. Another option would be to replace the entire ice bucket assembly which is part number WR17X11447.

Jig for Model Number GE ESF25LGRE WW

I am having some issues with ICE dispenser. I found that the Ice bucket drive cup is loose and wobble. Because of that it is not able to rotate the auger assembly and ICE is not dispensing. The auger moter is rotating but it is not fully attached to the back end of the drive cup and not able to move freely. It also pushes the entire bucket and freezer door with the noise. Should the drive cup be loose or it should be fixed? Do you think replacing drive cup will fix the issue? Thank you for your help.

1 Answer

Hello Jig. The drive cup shouldn't be tight, but should make contact with the auger. If it is not and it is sliding forward, it will need to be replaced.
