Sean for Model Number JBP78WY2WW My troubles started with the lower baking element not working, the broiler would work, and the range top would as well. I ordered a new lower element, and installed it, but it did not work and now I have noticed that the range no longer works nor does the broiler. I have ohm tested both the lower baking elements, the new and the old and the tested good. Not sure what to trouble shoot from hear, any help would be greatly appreciated. Sure if this has any bearing but this is a glass top oven/range. Thank you in advance for any assistance.
Answer Hello Sean, You will want to do a voltage check at the control board to make sure that you are getting power to elements. If you check from L1 to bake with unit set for bake you should have 240vac. If you check from L1 to Broil with set to broil you will also have 240vac. If you do not have 240vac on either test then you need to replace the main control board. You will also want to check the terminal block across L1 to L2 to make sure that you have 240 volts. You can test each leg by checking L1 to ground and L2 to ground. There should be 120 vac on each of these legs. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
