Richard Maender for Model Number AP4344491

I tried to replace the fan motor (WR60X10141) on my GE refrig. But the fan blade on the old one would not come off. It was installed by a GE service tech last year.It looks like the AP4344491 on your website. A screw at the center of the blade where it seems a clear hole should be. On videos I've seen, the blade inserts through the fan shaft. Before I break the fan blade that's on it now, I want to make sure I won't have the same problem with AP4344491. It actually looks like it was glued on. Thank you.

Answer

Richard, The fan blade should or will just slide straight onto the shaft of the fan motor. Some servicers do apply a dab of rubber cement to the fan blade hub to help secure it to the motor shaft, but it usually doesn't involve breaking the fan blade assembly, it does make it a bit harder to slide the assembly off the motor.
