Oven Woes Back in november 25tht I replaced the igniter on a Frigidaire oven, only to have it go bad again. Any help with what may be going on? I only got to enjoy a thanksgiving turkey out of the new igniter. Any help is appreciated !
Answer Oven woes, Test for 3.2-3.6 vac at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Answer Oven woes, Remove the igniter and check the black carborundum area of the igniter. If there is a white colored spot, that would indicate a crack in the igniter. That could have occurred during shipping. It is not unusual to find a defective igniter in the box. They are pretty fragile.
