Bruce April 03, 2023 In the past 6 months I have replaced two Ignitor for my GE Oven. The last one only lasted about 6 weeks. I purchased it off of Amazon. The part number was WB2X9998. I don't want to buy a new stove. What do you think is wrong?
1 Answer Bruce, fast failure of an ignitor could be caused by oil being on the carbide from installation, if the part was dropped enough to have a slight crack in the carbide, improper voltage being supplied, incorrect part being used, etc. If the model number of your appliance could be provided in a new question, this can allow the most accurate information to be presented. Ken May 03, 2019 for Model Number RNB366BSS Can i replace the factory ignitor PB040001 model 501A flat iron type with a Pb040001 round type ignitor?
1 Answer Ken, the ignitor [PB040001] is only a flat ignitor. You will want to use the ignitor specified for your model due to possible resistance differences between the correct ignitor and other ignitors. If the resistance does not cause enough amps to be drawn, then the unit will not let the coils engage because the heating system operates based off of the amp draw of the ignitor. Read More...
