Carl for Model Number JGBS07PEH1WW My GE oven no longer works; it's no igniting. I removed the Ignitor; Model 501A, 223C3381G003, 0316 and measured for Ohms with my Fluke, says 206 ohms. Is this the correct spec for this part? Is it possible the unit can have a crack and still give a good ohms reading? thanks in advance, Carl
Answer Hello Carl. It will not ohm out good with a crack. You need to do this test. Test for 3.0-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
