Paul C for Model Number JVM1660WB 001 I was cooking something, heard a buzz, and microwave went dead. I replaced the fuse (AP2631556). Lights came on and I set the clock. Tried to heat up some water in a cup. Microwave lasted 2 seconds before it went dead again. What should I check next? Any ideas?
Answer Hi Paul. It sounds like your magnetron has shorted. Remove it and inspect the tip to see if it is blown apart. Look at the side upper and lower magnets to see if they are cracked. The new one comes in a kit that includes the diodes and the stirrer plate assy. Be careful not to get crossed into the capacitor terminals as it stores voltage and is a safety concern. The magnetron kit is part # WB49X10226. You will need to sand to clean metal and use the microwave touch-up paint part # TJ98QBP0300 on all shorted cabinet surfaces. Thank You. Read More...
