Lee for Model Number ZISB420DRI After a full defrost cycle and restart everything operates ok, after approx. 2 weeks temp starts rising in FF and Freezer, frost accumulates above ice maker on fins. Is this a sensor problem and which one do I need to replace?
Answer Lee, you may want to check to ensure that there is not an air leak through the door gaskets. You will also want to check all of the thermistors as it is possible that one of them may have failed and is causing the unit to try to cool too much, causing the evaporator to freeze up. If the thermistor is an open circuit, it has failed. At 5 degrees Fahrenheit, the thermistor should read 36.4k ohms, 14 degrees should be 27.6k ohms, and -4 degrees should be 48.4k ohms. More than likely one of the freezer thermistors have failed and is causing the unit to freeze up. If you see frost congesting the evaporator and the thermistors do not read a proper resistance, then the thermistor is the cause. Read More...
