Part Number: OEM6180528
Manufacturer Part Number: WR2X8474

The Ice Maker Fill Tube Grommet is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This grommet creates a seal between the ice maker fill tube and the refrigerator, preventing leaks and ensuring that water is properly directed into the ice maker during the filling process.

Causes of a bad grommet can include regular wear and tear, damage from exposure to freezing and thawing cycles, or degradation from exposure to water and moisture.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker fill tube grommet include:

  • Water leaks around the ice maker fill tube area
  • Ice maker not producing ice properly
  • Visible cracks or deformation in the grommet
  • Water pooling inside or around the refrigerator

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Russ for Model Number PSC25PSWA SS

Freezer works ok and the icemaker works ok but the icemaker periodically goes into a defrost mode and melts the ice in the ice tray after it has been made. However, the items in the freezer below the first shelf remain frozen Water then runs out of the ice tray and creates a big ice cycle down in the freezer compartment. After I dump all the water and ice that hasn't melted yet out of the tray and shut the icemaker switch off for a little while, then turn the switch back on the icemaker seems to work fine for a day or two and then goes back into the defrost mode. Do you have an answer to what the problem could be with the icemaker? Thanks Russ

Answer

Russ, The icemaker would not go into a defrost mode as there is not one on it. What the issue sounds like is that the icemaker is hanging up when it is calling for water and causing the icemaker to overfill and run down the to create the icicle effect. For this issue you will want to replace the icemaker assembly. The part number for the icemaker would be part number WR30X10093 as the icemaker in the unit cannot be repaired but has to be replaced per the manufacturer.
