Part Number: OEM6180528
Manufacturer Part Number: WR2X8474

The Ice Maker Fill Tube Grommet is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This grommet creates a seal between the ice maker fill tube and the refrigerator, preventing leaks and ensuring that water is properly directed into the ice maker during the filling process.

Causes of a bad grommet can include regular wear and tear, damage from exposure to freezing and thawing cycles, or degradation from exposure to water and moisture.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker fill tube grommet include:

  • Water leaks around the ice maker fill tube area
  • Ice maker not producing ice properly
  • Visible cracks or deformation in the grommet
  • Water pooling inside or around the refrigerator

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Chris for Model Number CSX27DMA

No water is currently flowing into ice maker to make ice & I'm trying to find the cause; verified water pump is working properly; I removed the water line to the grommet on the back of the unit; removed ice maker from freezer; blew out the line from the back of the unit that goes into the freezer; I felt pressure on the inside 1/4 inch water line that feeds the ice tray - but the air flow was somewhat weak; I tried to force water thru the grommet on the back of the unit, no good - the water just came back & dripped down the hose I was blowing thru; Could their be frozen water inside the grommet, between the back on the unit & where the water flows into the ice maker? (I think that's the only answer - I think) Can I removed the grommet assembly on the back of the unit by just pulling & twisting on it? Or do I have to go thru the freezer compartment & get at the grommet & 1/4 inch hose ? I also tried to use 2 blow dryers, one from the back & one inside the freezer compartment to see if i could defrost the possible frozen water - no good. When the water tries to fill the ice maker, the water is forced back out the water feed line in the back of the unit & drips down the back of the fridge. What do you guys think ?? thanks, chris

Answer

Hello Chris. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the grommet WR2X8474 and the fill tube is frozen and will need to be thawed out. Hope this helps.
