Walker R. for Model Number JGP975SEK2SS My gas cooktop (JGP975SEK2SS) operates perfectly during normal use. However, the igniters fires one shot intermittently when the stove is not being used. It is random and happens when we are not near the unit. I have taken the top off the unit and looked at all the insides and checked all connections and can't see anything wrong. What are your suggestions?? IF I need to replace some part, I want to do it before replacing all these parts. Therefore, please reply ASAP... Thanks, Walker
Answer Walker, The first check needs to be at the power outlet. The power cord has to plug into a 120 VAC polarized and grounded outlet. There are several capacitors in the spark module, the excess power build up has to be discharged to the ground circuit. If the unit isn't grounded, the capacitor will discharge through the igniters on the cooktop. If the outlet is wired proper and grounded, then replace the spark module WB13X32509 the path to ground is weak or has failed and allows the capacitors to discharge through the igniters. Read More...
