Blake for Model Number gss25jfmbww Having defrost issue with GE refrigerator. Fresh food side not cooling. Defrost heating element tests at 22 ohms though the glass is discolored. How do I test continuity and resistance in the thermostat and freezer side thermistors? How do I disconnect them without ruining them? Does it matter what temperature I test them at? If so, is that fahrenheit or celsius? Suggestions on how to get them to a set temperature for a DIY'er at home would be appreciated.
Answer Hello Blake. You must make a small splice in the insulation of the wires to test the parts. If the heater is good, and then the thermostat and thermistor is good, you will need to replace the main board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
